Scouts choose the program
Each year our Scouts choose the campout destinations, activities, and summer camp, which gives them real practice in planning, teamwork, and leadership.
Troop 73 is aA Scouting America troop for boys ages 11 to 17, meeting every Monday evening in Waynesboro. Scouts challenge themselves, discover the great outdoors, and learn practical skills, from camping to leadership and community service.
Why Troop 73
Scouting gives young people room to try new things, take on responsibility, and build lasting friendships. Here is what that looks like in Troop 73.
Each year our Scouts choose the campout destinations, activities, and summer camp, which gives them real practice in planning, teamwork, and leadership.
Weekend campouts, hiking and backpacking trips, and both summer and winter camp keep the troop outdoors all year long.
Each week Scouts learn new skills and have fun doing it, with games, group activities, and a game night about once a month.
Our service projects take place here in Waynesboro, so Scouts can see the difference they make in their own community.

Highlights
A few highlights from the past twelve months, along with weekend campouts most months of the year.
A weekend at Hemric Scout Reservation, where the only way in is by kayak. Scouts paddled their gear across, set up camp, and paddled home.
A guided trip underground, squeezing through tight passages and seeing formations by headlamp.
Miles of trail along the crest of the Blue Ridge, with each Scout carrying everything he needs in his own pack.
Camping together at a nearby campground, then a day exploring the park and walking beneath its 215-foot stone arch.
A week of summer camp with merit badge classes by day and campfires at night, plus winter camp, where Scouts learn to stay warm and dry in the cold.
Woods with Merit, a council camporee where Scouts earn merit badges outdoors alongside troops from across the council.
